Last weekend my mom and niece came for a visit. While they were here I made a few things for them to take home with them. I will post about each of these items over the next few days. First, though I am going to post about what I made for my niece.
A while back a friend of mine gave me a box of unwanted picture frames. I have been using them to make several different things but the majority of them have been used to make small chalkboards. My niece wanted one so we worked on making one together. Well she painted the frame and picked out the ribbon for it and I did the rest. I am a bit controlling when it comes to crafting. Her room is purple, black, and white so that's where we took the chalkboard.
Here's a picture of the finished project:
The frame was broken so I had to fix it first. I used some E600 to glue it together and waited for that to dry. After it was dry my niece painted the black frame purple. In the meantime I spray painted the glass with Krylon chalkboard paint.
Once the paint on the frame was dry I sanded and distressed it some and then sprayed it with a clear glossy coat. Next, insert chalkboard glass into frame. Now the fun part comes decorating it. Here's what I did...
So that's it. I also wrote her a hand written note and when she woke in the morning it was ready and waiting for her before they had to leave. She was happy with it and so was I.
I know it seems like I've posted before about mini chalkboards and I have check these out but I love them and they are a little different.
I am linking up these great parties.
